Why Duterte is bad for the Philippines

Well, there's no question that Davao is one of the "safest cities" in the world. Mayor Rodrigo Duterte to some is a reincarnation of the dictator Ferdinand Marcos. The way he deals with criminals in the country is appealing to Filipinos because of the increasing rate of crimes and corruption we see on TV.

Despite his "Iron fist" propaganda, why, in my opinion, Duterte is bad for the Philippines?

He supports same-sex marriage

He may not have said that he supports it, but saying same-sex marriage is okay is no doubt one of the very reasons why he is bad for diehard Catholic in the Philippines. In his interview with Vice Ganda, they talked about gay rights and same-sex marriage, and he has no problem with it. What will happen if he becomes president? Well, the LGBT community will have a solid support, and that what America is going through will surely spread in our country. 

He is playing hard-to-get

He doesn't want to be president but it is obvious with all the media attention that he is playing hard-to-get in order for the Pinoys to make a petition like, "Du30  for President". He wants people to know that he doesn't want the position so that they will label him as a person who is not power-hungry. But with all the advertisements and "He doesn't want to be president but if he will become one..." talks makes me wonder if he doesn't want to be president, why not shut up? If he really is an "Iron fist", why not go straight to the point?

He is pro-Constitutional Reform

If you don't want the status quo to change, Duterte is not right for you. The flaw of the old and lame 1987 Philippine Constitution has delivered failed promises to help the Philippines to rise again to what it once was. In his many interviews, he kept on promising to reform the Philippines into a Federal-Parliamentary government which is seen to be the best government structures used by one of the most progressive countries around the world.

He will kill drug lords and criminals

If you are a human activist or has a regard for human life, Duterte promises to eliminate criminals and shut down the massive illegal drug scheme plaguing the Philippines. Illegal drugs are rampant in the Philippines and drug lords have bought private armies to rule over the country with no competition since they also have the police at their side. This is one of the reasons why he is popular among votes because Filipinos are tired of the corruption and darkness surrounding the Philippines today.
