Despite rumors that BPO companies will pull out after Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte's tirade against the US, the BPO companies choose to continue their operations in the country as it states:
"Business process outsourcing in the Philippines continues to grow, with US form Alorica planning to hire up to 7,500 employees this year, with 4,000 in October alone, said company president for Asia, Bong Borja.
"We are very confident about the country and the business environment here," he said. Alorica has more than 30,000 employees in the Philippines."
And in the news from CNN, "BPOs aim to earn $40 B, hire 1.8 M Filipinos by 2022" states:
"Revenues are expected to hit $22.9 billion this year, then reach up to $38.9 billion by 2022."
Many netizens are not shocked by these revelations as they know that foreign BPO companies are not here because they are charitable to the Philippines but because the Filipinos have the skills and talents in communicating in English. Business as usual since the Philippines is among the cheap labor destination for BPO companies.
